Simply watching Pixar’s first animated feature ‘Toy Story’ and multi-tasking drawing cartoons, it simply clicked that I had found a passion for something other than sport. I’ve always had an interest sport and luckily was pretty good at most however, my creative side inspired me to become better within my own abilities and has made me who I am today. Plus making creative content such as animated films and getting paid for it as a job is almost too good to be true. Ever since I really understood what the animation industry was, the more I researched and educated myself the more interested I became. There’s been a lot of things I’ve been quite I uncertain about throughout my life but this is something I’m fairly certain I want to pursue. I graduated Year 12 in 2015 and looking back I was fairly pleased with my results but felt that there was a lot of room for improvement. In March 2016, I was super keen to get started into the college and kick start my animation journey. However, after three months of studying I decided deferred my course as I was mentally drained from Year 12, the workload was quite intense start away and felt like I wasn’t settled enough or ready to continue. Between then and now I’ve tried multiple jobs that have been quite different and provided me with some valuable life skills. I was constantly unsure of pursuing animation as I found a way to doubt myself and not think I was not talented enough for this competitive and high demand industry. Even though I tried giving different careers a go, animation would always come back to me. Every time I see an animation film, I’d consistently feel inspired and would always feel good coming out. Eventually I realised that this was the career I wanted to pursue and continuously convincing myself that I can do it and I will get there some day. I received my Bachelor’s degree in ‘Design: 3D Animation’ at Deakin University in Victoria and currently on the look out for internships or junior positions.
