I'm a composer, orchestrator-arranger, conductor, and drummer-percussionist based in London and Essex, with a distinction-level Master of Music (Composition) degree from King’s College London. Having many years of symphonic, theatre, and popular music experience under my belt as a drummer-percussionist and MD-Conductor, I understand the inner workings of a wide variety of ensembles. I have comprehensive knowledge of style, writing idiomatically, and how to best articulate musical ideas for the instrumentation at hand. This makes me a well-rounded composer who is more than comfortable in styles from jazz to classical, and from rock to musical theatre, opera, and film. Having been an instrumentalist in these scenarios, I also understand what the musician wants, and how to get the best out of the players you have. This, again, speaks to my versatility and wide creative scope. Having studied under some of the most well-regarded contemporary-classical composers in the UK (George Benjamin, Edward Nesbit, Silvina Milstein) as well as with some of the UK's best jazz-arrangers (Callum Au) I have honed the skills expected of modern-day composers with the guidance, support, and wisdom of renowned industry professionals. Current/recent projects include additional orchestrations for a regional production of "The Sound of Music" (including an orchestral reduction of the 1965 Main Titles from the film that acts as an overture), reducing the orchestration of Ravel’s opera “L’enfant et les Sortilèges”, original composition of a Marimba Concerto (for marimba, 3 flutes, strings), and co-arranger of the “Christmas Together” concert series with AFK Productions. In summer 2021, I was commissioned to write a piece (Twisted Cloisters) for the National Youth Percussion Orchestra and National Youth Horn Ensemble. The aim was to gear the piece to a variety of abilities intermediate to advanced, though the standard of these ensembles is extremely high, whilst retaining a modern and rich harmonic and rhythmic palette. This was premiered at the final concert of their summer residential course. My other composition work has involved working with filmmakers and cinematographers; most notably my work as composer and sound designer for Dr. Kate McMillan’s “The Lost Girl”; a short film exploring the idea of an eco-apocalypse. Other work includes Musical Director & Conductor of the GKT MSA Orchestra, Musical Director of Southend Operatic & Dramatic Society, and former Principal Percussionist of the National Scout and Guide Symphony Orchestra.

    uniE603 Piece for Solo Piano
An exploration of themes with a characteristic rhythmic impetus and a melody with a dance-like skip in its step. Written in order to explore the full range and capabilities of the piano, the piece doesn’t shy away from putting the instrument to task.
    uniE603 Marimba Concerto
Written for marimba solo, three flutes, & strings. This is the piece that earned me the highest overall mark in my postgraduate composition degree and the acclaim of the department. Attached are movements 1&2 for you to listen to. music composer percussion
uniE603 Dystopia - For Symphony Orchestra
Large-scale, thematically-driven symphonic work exploring the idea of a dystopian society in which the boundaries of truth and falsehood are blurred, the government is corrupt, and democracy is on the edge of collapse. Written in response to the January 6th Capitol Attack in the USA.
uniE608 Twisted Cloisters - For Horns & Mixed Percussion
A commission for the National Youth Percussion Orchestra & National Youth Horn Ensemble. Written for mixed abilities (intermediate to advanced) whilst maintaining a modern (and sometimes jazz influenced) harmonic and rhythmic palette. The piece recalls a trip to a famous twisted bell tower in the Loire Valley region of France where the percussive clockwork mechanisms ticked away as I climbed up the tower towards the viewing platform to see the stunning views of the French countryside. composer commission percussion frenchhorn
uniE613 Arabesque No#2 (Orch. James Green)
An orchestration of a classic Debussy piano piece, reimagined for symphony orchestra. The aim was to approach this piece with fresh eyes and ears whilst being sensitive to the wider context of the orchestral forces of the era the piece was composed.
