I love “making something from nothing” and creating “new sounds” with ANY(soft/hard)WARE! ;) PEACE! My name is Kyle Murdock & I've worked in sound for the last 20 years. My passion for audio began when I was growing up in Washington, DC & got inspired to make sounds by my late uncle Melvin Lindsey, a radio icon + creator of the "Quiet Storm” format. My first in job was as an "audio animator" at the burgeoning XM Satellite Radio in 2001, where I created radio imaging for the services' Hip Hop and Jazz channels. I left XM after eight years to pursue a career in music as an artist + producer when my group Panacea landed a record deal w/ Sony/Rawkus Records. That opportunity allowed me, known professionally as “K-Murdock”, to make music with a variety of award-winning artists, including Raheem Devaughn, Malcom Jamal-Warner, and Nicolay. I then continued my "audio adventures" as an engineer & educator after 5 studio albums with Panacea, returning to my alma mater, Howard University, in 2012 where I served as creative services director at the university's commercial radio station (WHUR). In 2015, I accepted a position at Howard’s School of Communications to both teach and manage the school’s Technology Center. In 2020, I became a sound designer for Vice Media’s upstart audio team, winning a Third Coast Audio Award and an International Documentary Award for work with the company. In 2021, I also won a Emmy Award for a media project I helped produce. Most recently, I have worked as an independent composer and sound designer for audio, visual, and interactive mediums additionally winning a Signal and Webby award for contributions to productions by Audible and LeBron James's SpringHill production company.
