    uniE608 "The Call" Animatic
Link to the animatic on my portfolio: https://www.twine.net/signin Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, 2023 This animatic was made for my STAMPS Sophomore Studio project under Professor Kate Rubin. The goal of this class was to create a final iteration of a semester-long project and present it to a panel, to which we would discuss what we've learned from previous art classes and our findings during this class. During the first and second iterations, we conducted much research into our "making," or what drives us to commit to this passion project. I wanted to make an animation based on a scene from my story "The Wicked and Deranged" (for more info, see "The Wicked and Deranged Comic Excerpt" under Illustration). My research lay primarily in film studies, as I took Intro to FTVM that same semester. I tied my animatic to the age of "Quality TV" we talked about in FTVM, in which television shows became higher quality and took on the narrative drama of films. This relates to my project because, in the Age of the Internet, with information and new media being so widely accessible, it would be intriguing to tackle animation in the same vein as Quality TV: episodic, tonally serious, and suspenseful, but with eye-grabbing and expressionistic colors. In creating this animatic, I would show a short "preview" (akin to Netflix Reels) to present the tone or conflict of my overall story, particularly the deception and multiple perspectives. Because of my presentation, I passed the Sophomore Review with Honors. uniE621 "Crime and Punishment" Artist Book
Link to the full comic: https://www.twine.net/signin Procreate, Matte Photo Paper, Drum Leaf-Bound Book, 2022 This artist book was made for my Book Arts class at STAMPS. Our professor Kyle Clark had us get acquainted with simpler bookbinding styles (accordion, coptic sewing, and so on) before we moved on to this larger project which involved drum leaf binding. We were allowed to include anything in it that represented our artistic mediums of choice. I decided to make an illustrated version of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “Crime and Punishment.” During a critique in the planning stages, someone suggested omitting any and all text, as the art could then speak for itself. With this in mind, I used Procreate to draw important scenes to visualize the narrative of the book, with some scenes taking up a whole spread. I printed them all on matte photo paper to be folded and bound together in this complete artist book. bookarts artistbook illustration illustrator comics crimeandpunishment fyodordostoevsky bookadaptation bookbinding
uniE621 "Road to the King" Comic
Procreate, 2023 This comic was originally made for a contest but was later finished for an assignment in Phoebe Gloeckner's Graphic Narratives class at STAMPS. The prompt was to create a full-color comic, and I did so with a new story in which old pulp fiction comics inspired the style. illustrator artist comicart comicartist comics illustration graphicnovel writer pulpfiction

The prompt was to create a comic using only photographs and assort them into a comic. I made mine about my first panic attack and utilized bitmapping techniques that I had seen in many indie horror games; I felt that this pixelation appearance would convey the horror and distance from reality I felt quite well. photo photocomic comics comicartist comic comicart photography indiecomic illustrator
uniE621 "The Father Is Present" Comic
Link to the full comic: https://www.twine.net/signin Ink on Bristol Paper Commence Exhibition statement: “The Father Is Present” is an excerpt from a larger story of mine, but operates as a standalone comic. In this, I explore identity and the confinements of one’s family. Parental figures hold much weight in our lives. How does one escape that weight when it becomes too burdensome? This comic is about self-transformation, whether one grows from it or not; in the end, one must reckon with the sins of their father. This comic was made for Phoebe Gloeckner’s Graphic Narratives class at STAMPS in which all students contributed a traditionally drawn comic to a class book. The book has two titles ("" and “”) and follows two themes: conflict, and magic—the former of which I chose. “The Father Is Present” is a short comic based on the story I have been working on for years (for more info, see “The Wicked and Deranged” Comic Excerpt). In it, I utilized panel composition to convey a “boxing-in” effect on the main character to convey her feelings of entrapment and claustrophobia caused by her father. My comic has been shown at the Stamps “Commence” Senior Exhibition of 2024. illustrator graphicnovel graphicnovelist comics comicartist artist illustration drawing inkart
