​Lanie Niide is a contemporary composer and pianist in Kansas City, Missouri. Born in Honolulu and raised in Kapa'a, Hawaii, her Hawaiian background, as well as her Asian inheritance has major roots in her compositions. As a transgender woman composer, she draws on inspiration from her personal journey of self-discovery and transformation, aiming to create compositions with a sense of unseen identity and resilience. Niide studied at James Madison University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 2024.
