I completed my composition studies in South Africa in the 80s. I enjoy blending my Italian background, enriched by my lifelong curiosity and my travels to create evocative and sparky original music. I studied piano (1976-80) at the music conservatory in Madrid and was awarded the 1st piano prize for 3 consecutive years. In 1980 I enrolled as a piano student at the Santa Cecilia Music Conservatory in Rome. As a music composition student at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) I studied composition with Carl Van Wyk and attended classes and master classes of national composers – Stefans Grové, Jeanne Zaidel-Rudolph, Mary Roerich, Henk Temmingh – as well as international composers and musicians such as Malcolm Forsyth, Violeta Dinescu, Bruce Cassidy, Boris Bloch and Mario Monreal. Since my MMus in (computer - Synclavier II) composition I've earned a living in Information Technology "composing" data programs to delight my business customers. In my spare time I continue to enjoy composing and listening to (mine and anyone else's) good contemporary music. uniE608 Bach BWV 147
During Italy's lockdown I shared this jazzed up version of Bach's Cantata BWV 147 based on Naoki Nishi's arragement that was transcribed by Marc Payne. video piano jazz
    uniE608 Oblivion - film rescore
Rescored, composed and arranged for film orchestra, roughly 18 consecutive minutes from Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Thesis submission for my Film Music Master degree at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music in Rome. N.B. The italian dialogue in the film is softer to allow the exam panel to perceive the music. The harmonic structure of the musical commentary follows the crescendo of the pathos of the story. music film
    uniE603 Original piano works
A composition based on an unusually symmetrical scale a.k.a. octatonic scale that alternates whole and half tones. In Jazz improvisation, the whole-half diminished (with a tone rather than a semitone beginning the pattern) is commonly used in jazz improvisation, frequently under different names. Landscape for piano solo is an evocative piece where a spinning top whirls romantically within an octatonic scale. music instrumental soundtrack piano original
