I am a newly-graduated violinist from the Royal Northern College of Music, who has been learning the violin since age 7.
I started the studies with my dad Ralph Dawson, and did my first Grade 8 violin aged 12. At aged 13 I started having lessons with Richard Howarth, and not long after this I attended the Junior Royal Northern College of Music aged 14-18. In this period, I received teaching from Deirdre Ward for 3 years, and started learning with Catherine Yates in my 4th year of being here.
At the RNCM, I continued my learning with Catherine Yates, and still continue to have lessons with her now. RNCM gave me many skills, including Chamber Music, leading an Orchestra/section, music theory, arrangement, etc. as well as other skills such as self-promotion, marketing and enhancing my general love and passion for music.
I have played concertos with a few orchestras, and have had the pleasure to take part in festivals such as the St.Endellion festival based in Cornwall.
I currently continue to heavily engage in musical activity, such as being a co-founder of The Hathersage Quartet, as well as frequently doing gigs with Simply Strings. I am also a member of The Brigantes Orchestra based in Sheffield.
