    uniE621 Televisor website
Televisor website I designed and developed Televisor’s official website. Using my real-world tube television, photocollaged as the hero of the homepage. The coloured glow on the plastic frame is wonderfully subtle. Straightforward in code structure, with an oh-so-slick increase in glow brightness on hovering over each menu item.
    uniE621 SCAN
SCAN is a personal project in which I experimented with using my scanner as a means of taking a portrait photograph, rather than a digital camera for instance. In the process of this, I manipulated the imagery by moving myself, the scanner and finding ways to be in the way of the sensor. The result, through a pass or two of Photoshop texturing, colour tilting and pixel distressing, is striking. These images mark some of my earlier experimentation with visuals in 2013, and show a younger self eager to make a mark. And would you believe it? I tore, rippled and stretched the ‘SCAN’ hand drawn lettering through that sensor to affect for that exciting and stimulating animated effect. Blue whiteboard marker on A4 office paper, inverted, overlaid. Nothing has changed. I still pull together visuals with whichever material is nearby.
    uniE621 Self branding
Branding created for my graphic design practice. Strong grid work, a nod to the Golden Ratio here and there. In some ways, the logo represents a simplified Yin-Yang form, combined with my initials, akin to monograms used by artists and craftspeople. The mark shows my core principle, simplicity vs complexity, contrasts. The diagonal movement breaks from expected horizontal and vertical stresses, a way of symbolising leftfield thinking and processes in my practice. The back of the business cards reflect the diagonal motion of the logo, with an additional purpose: the cards can be used for making creative decisions. Such as where can elements be placed, what contrasting stresses haven’t been employed yet, and so on. When thrown, a handful or so arrange randomly. The angles the diagonal motif points in can aid in inspiring exciting new directions for elements.
    uniE621 I’m Yours Tonight
I had the wonderful opportunity of designing the album cover for electronic duo Televisor’s single “I’m Yours Tonight” (Ft. Brenton Mattheus & Lambert McGaughy), as well as additional promotional material for the release. I was asked to come up with a design that was clean, yet classic, and involving some natural elements such as skyscapes, clouds or sunsets. Imagery that would speak of rekindling old love. “From concept to finished product, Louis was very efficient and good to work with. We told him what we were looking for, what our niche was and who our market was. We gave him some pictures to use as references for him to draw inspiration from for his design and he nailed it. Within a few days he had produced and presented to us his first attempt at the design, which happened to be spot on and ended up being the design we used. Along with this, he also provided additional designs for us to choose from in a range of sizes to suit a range of social media sites. Bottom line; Louis is an efficient, professional and well rounded designer and we look forward to working with him again on our future projects.” — Tim Butler, Tom Parry of Televisor The beautiful sunset photograph was provided by my father, a scan of a print out, worn with subtle scratches. One less effect I would have to re-create. The colours are wonderful — what you're seeing is what I saw in person. That brush lettering? By hand of course, always with care. Nothing beats analogue, nothing. designer
