Hi, I’m Melissa—a designer and thinker with a fusion of cross-disciplinary skills and a multicultural perspective. From a young age, I spent most of my life expressing myself through hand drawings. My journey in design formally began when I studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture at Newcastle University, where I was able to explore and integrate artistic expression into my projects. My academic exploration led me to discover the ecological implications that accompany architectural design, which I further explored in my dissertation "Ephemerality and Performance in Art, Architecture, and Ecology." This study has profoundly affected my understanding of how spaces can go beyond aesthetics. I argue for the importance of the ephemeral and performative that can shape an improved built environment by connecting people to nature on a deeper level. Thus, my design philosophy is deeply rooted in ecology, sustainability, and cultural studies—areas I’m continually evolving through my current Master's studies. I like to draw inspiration from my diverse background which enriches my perspective and allows me to approach design with a multicultural lens. Whether I’m working on graphic design, interior design, atmospheric design, illustration, or rendering, I strive to create work that not only looks beautiful but also holds a narrative in telling a story that resonates on a deeper level. My career path consists of exploring intersections of creativity, sustainability, and human experience, under an artistic framework. My goal is to contribute to projects that push the boundaries of design, creating spaces and visuals that are not only functional but also emotionally profound and responsive to the ecological crisis. When I’m not designing, you can find me immersed in music, playing and improvising with instruments, or refining my hand-drawing skills—a practice that keeps my creativity sharp and my mind at ease. Let’s connect and explore the depths of art, architecture, and ecology, and fuse them into designs that inspire and endure.
