    uniE621 Helvetica One Mandarin Nil
Helvetica One Mandarin Nil is based on my final year essay 'How is geographic identity conveyed through typography?', which has the alternative title 'Can a typeface be racist?' It uses a football match as a metaphor for the battle for authentic cultural representation in typography, as well as other fields, such as cuisine and architecture. 24 typefaces are personified as portraits of football players, composed of various cultural shorthands, both stereotypical and sincere. These portraits were presented as a book - as seen in this double page spread - and a series of trading cards, and three of the football shirt illustrations were made in real life. All these outcomes were exhibited at the North London Creative Degree Show 2024. graphicdesign illustration digitalillustration digitalcollage typography typeface typefaces typehistory culturalrepresentation culturalappropriation footballshirt footballart bookdesign tradingcards shirtdesign indesign photoshop adobeindesign adobephotoshop
    uniE608 Fabrica
This video is an element of my proposed rebrand of art gallery Fabrica, made as part of a 3rd-year university workshop on the business of branding. My rebrand was inspired by the unique shape of the gallery, formerly a church. I noticed that the building could be visually approximated as seven rectangles, and ‘Fabrica’ has seven letters. I combined these elements with a colour palette taken from Fabrica’s existing identity, and the quintessentially British font Gill Sans, to create a dynamic, ever-changing logo of seven modules. One of my ideas for an application of this identity was projecting the logo onto the building at night, as shown in this mockup made in After Effects. graphicdesign logodesign branding brandidentity adobeillustrator adobephotoshop adobeaftereffects photoshop aftereffects typography gillsans artgallery videoprojection projectionart
