This book design is for a book named ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’. The book is about twin sisters as they deal with family, love, and betrayal during the civil war era of Nigeria in 1967. It is also a time when Nigeria just gained its independence from colonial rule but was still being affected by the ‘white’ man’s influence. The main design pattern on the front cover is made of a well-known fabric motif of Nigeria and is contrasted with the denim fabric texture to represent the ‘white man’ that is used for the spine and flaps.
