Crisis Communications course

Actor is needed in Edmonton, Canada.

What is the project, and what do you want to achieve with it?

Training course on dealing with people experiencing trauma over the phone. This course will teach police operators how to communicate effectively with callers under duress. The actor will be speaking to the operators over a phone and not see them face to face. They will need to be convincing and be able to follow the direction of where to take the call as it is happening.

What is your role within the organization, or is this a person project?

I am a Sgt in the Emergency Communications and Operations Management Branch of the Edmonton Police Service. I am the project lead for this course and will be managing all aspects of the instruction and delivery of the course material.

What are the three top priorities for this project?

To teach operators how to effectively communicate over the phone.
How to listen and build rapport with a caller.
Provide feedback to the students on how they did and how effective the operator was.

Do you have a deadline?

Not at this time.

Are there reference materials that can be shared to give insight into what is needed?

A script will be written but some improvisation may be required to keep the operator under stress.
