BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTY
Translations of: in-game text, supplementary development and testing-related papers, voice scripts, and other materials as necessary to support goods and services through launch and beyond.
Plays Japanese-language pre-production software and, working with the rest of the team and through text translation, explains the developerās aim.
Regarding the localization of Nintendo products for the US, Canada, and Latin America, offerĀ cultural and artistic input.
Contributes to the terminology and game title naming process
Analyzes and reviews items and games and offers commentary on their design and content for the American and French Canadian markets.
Helps other Nintendo of America, Inc. (NOA) departments with game assistance, including internal game demonstrations and video and screenshot collection.
Collaborates with Nintendo of Europeās (NOE) localization team to create alignment when necessary by streamlining processes and utilising resources
Maintains knowledge of the gaming industry in the targeted market and informs the product acquisition, development, and marketing teams on market trends.
Keeps up with matters relevant to culturalization, detecting problems and offering fixes as necessary.
Collaborates with management to plan and carry out worldwide localization projects, ensuring effectiveness and minimising duplication of work.
Product evaluations for ESRB and legal compliance
May interpret during conferences, calls, and video conferences pertaining to the localization and production of video games.
Translates and interprets for other divisions and subsidiaries as necessary.
Contributes to the schedulingĀ and the distribution of resources
Quickly updates management on issues, modifications, and delays with the development schedule
Aids in the organisation and management of voice recording sessions
You can be requested to take part in the employment process by examining assessments and attending interviews.
Up to 10% of total travel is domestic and abroad.
Additional Tasks (Marketing)
- May translate developer interviews for the media at high-profile events.
- Utilizes knowledge of game content, target market market trends, and target market culture while generating suggestions for marketing strategy
- It is possible for someone to represent Nintendo as a spokesman by giving media interviews, giving presentations during live broadcasts, and engaging in game demonstraions.
- Creates content for websites, social media, and other consumer-facing platforms that relates to games.
- Coordinates translation initiatives using internal and external translation resources, translating development-related reference materials for use by international localization teams.
- Examines translations for uniformity and correctness
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Precision and keen attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
- Solid gaming prowess and the capacity to spot problems with content and design
- Knowledge of the current and past video game markets for homes and mobile devices
- Strong knowledge with the Microsoft Office suite and the capacity to pick up sophisticated proprietary software fast
- Excellent French and English translation skills, as well as two to four years of specialised translation expertise, and the ability to operate in a highly confidential environment
- Skills in translating between French and English, as well as previous experience translating during conferences calls or business meetings
- Knowledge of French Canadian history, culture, and traditions
- Knowledge of localization and translation tools
- Knowledge of using Microsoft Office and Windows in French
- Native-level proficiency in French
- Degree in French, English, Creative Writing, Translation, Linguistics, or a closely related discipline from an undergraduate institution, or equivalent experience
Preferably with prior translation and editing experience in the target language.
