eLife: Open Source Developer (Fixed term)

Looking for an open source developer to work on architecture, programming, automation, monitoring, and testing for our research article display technologies, with a focus on new technologies that will help our publishing model.
A small, motivated, cross-functional team that is dedicated to software quality, continuous improvement, and creating tools that support good change. Youâll take part in whole-team programming, where everyone contributes to all facets of the platform and talks about the upcoming software iteration to test.
The distributed team collaborates in a fairly social setting while working remotely. They work in teams or couples to develop software. They also hold a recurring âcampfireâ social gathering where they get to know one another better and exchange team mythology to strengthen our grasp of what and how weâre building. The team is continually working to improve our procedures and practises in order to better serve the needs of its members. With a team that has a variety of abilities and experiences, youâll have people to learn from as well as people to assist mentor you. Additionally, there will be many methods for you to set apart time for self-directed and team-based learning.
Experience:
Youâre concerned about software systems and think that thereâs more to development than just computers and code. You are aware that strong teamwork with the users of a systemâboth the users themselves and the other members of your teamâis essential to getting the most out of it. You are concerned about how usable software is for users and work to lower obstacles in their way.
You are familiar with the most recent technological advancements and have experience working with web apps written in Node.js (or a similar language). You have some prior cloud computing experience. You embrace open platforms and understand the importance of giving back to a community in order to have an impact.
You come to understand that delivering value to users fast and frequently requires working in small, flawed, releaseable iterations. You enjoy testing out systems with quick feedback loops.
Whether itâs new technology or new methods for product development, youâre constantly eager to learn. Youâre also open to using user feedback to guide architecture. You donât mind not being the authority, but when you are, you also donât take yourself too seriously.
