Multi award-winning drama series about the staff and patients at the Holby City Emergency Department, charting the ups and downs in their personal and professional lives whilst tackling many controversial and taboo issues. Through great writing and visual flair the show balances gritty realism with high drama to keep its millions of dedicated viewers coming back for more, on-screen and on-line, week in week out.

Becoming integral member of the Costume Department of a continuous drama is relentlessly challenging and diverse. Refining your ingenuity and problem solving to keep the show rolling. The fast paced and varied nature of Casualty nurtures development in all areas of the profession. Being a Medical Drama creates challenging stunts, current medical storylines and long running character development.

Role Responsibility
The Costume Coordinator will report to the Series Costume Designer.

Joining the Casualty Costume team, you will assist the Costume Supervisor, Designers and Standbys with creation, sourcing and maintaining costumes for Casualty.

The ability to research and assist with the costumes, order accessories, oversee fittings and support during the production process.

Continuity is vital in the costume department and you will be responsible for taking photos of cast members, ensuring that all notes and photos for regular artists are with updated within Series Designers continuity file.

Organising and monitoring are daily qualities required for this post to ensure that there is adequate supply and stock levels sourcing, costume hire houses, working with wholesalers to maintain the quantity of things required for the department.

In this role you will be monitoring that all costumes and stock are put back in their correct places from all dressing rooms, maintaining the costume truck to ensure it is always fully supplied and the maintenance of costumes by completing any alterations, dry cleaning, washing, ironing, repairs and labelling whilst making sure that the continuity book is always up to date.

The Costume Coordinator will be across all IT equipment for the department, which involves, but is not limited to iPads, computers plus breakdown software including DH Costume, and the creation of backing up and organising the cloud storage.

The coordinator role first port of call for all the Designers that join Casualty.

Are you the right candidate?
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following -

  • Professional experience within a Costume/Workroom Department in Television, Drama or Theatre
  • An excellent understanding of the principles, practices and roles for costume within Drama, Television and Film or Theatre productions
  • A proven ability to do alterations with adequate sewing skills
  • Experience of dealing with IT queries and equipment
  • Specific IT / Software knowledge, including DH Costume, Dropbox, Vuer, - Notability & Good Notes, Trello, Apple iPads/iCloud and Microsoft laptops
  • An ability of working independently, using your own judgement
  • An ability to effectively manage and prioritise tasks to a deadline
  • An ability to work efficiently to all continuity needs
  • A full and clean driving licence
  • Knowledge and passion for Drama
  • Must have a positive attitude to problem solving
