The Energy Efficiency group consists of four teams that are jointly responsible for designing and developing functionality and strategies to optimize energy consumption. Both through active control, based on all known information about route and user patterns, but also through coaching and information to the driver to create a better understanding of what affects energy consumption. Accurate range estimation is an important part of this to create confidence in our functions. We are also responsible for a third-party API that makes energy data available to, for example, energy suppliers that the customer wants to allow to optimize charging based on price.

Skills Required:

We are looking for an experienced Java/Android developer to our Response404 team, which currently consists of 7 fun and curious engineers with a diverse background.
The team has two main missions:

• One is to offer vehicle energy related data to third parties to enable a wider range of collaborations for our electric and electrified cars by tapping into synergies with the open-source software community. We are responsible for the Energy API, publicly available in volvocars developer portal.
• The other mission is to maintain and further develop the range assistant and trip computer app in our Android based infotainment system. You bring experience mainly from Java and cloud development, have a holistic view and great systems thinking. Other programming skills and good vehicle knowledge is considered an asset.
• You have more than 3 years of work experience in the relevant field and at least a Master’s degree in engineering.
• We assume that you communicate fluently in English (speech and writing) and have a driving license (level B).
