Job Description

The Department of Communication at Western Carolina University invites applications for a temporary Broadcast Production Manager staff position to support the equipment and operational needs of its academic programs involved with television, radio, and digital media production beginning July 2023.

This position will assist in overseeing the technical operations of a high-definition television studio designed and installed by Sony, support program development of the university’s radio station, and function as the Executive Producer of department audio, video, and digital multimedia projects working with faculty and students to support class projects, community engagement projects, scholarly activities, and departmental communication needs.

Responsibilities include the circulation and maintenance of field equipment used by students and faculty, supervising student equipment managers and television studio assistants, working with student professional organizations and clubs, managing the purchase and maintenance of department equipment, and assisting broadcasting faculty with TV Studio and Remote Production needs including in-studio productions, remote television productions, and live radio remotes. Additional duties include participating in university open house days and attending department meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

This is both a creative and technical position and the successful candidate will be knowledgeable regarding television studio systems and equipment, demonstrate a working knowledge of studio and field HD cameras, large format HD video switchers and audio consoles, audio and video routers, video editing, and digital multi-media production.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are B.S. or B.A. degree with demonstrated experience in audio and video production.
