Overview:

• The Audience Research department is seeking four bright and motivated individuals to join as Research Assistants.
• The department plays a central role in the BBC’s operations, and this is an opportunity to experience the variety of work they do.
• Three positions are available in the London offices, and one position is available in the Salford office.
• The roles are 18-month contracts starting in summer 2023 and ending in early 2025.
• Previous Research Assistants have gone on to have successful careers at the BBC or in the commercial world.

Responsibilities:

• Research Assistants will gain firsthand experience using various tools to understand the audience and inform the business.
• They will work with industry data sets like BARB to analyze TV viewing behavior and utilize trackers to understand audience preferences.
• When answers are not readily available, they will commission research to gather the necessary information.
• The goal is to make the BBC a more relevant and diverse place that reflects the UK’s diversity.
• The insights and information gathered by Research Assistants are shared with teams responsible for content creation, channel decisions, and audience promotion.
• They will have the opportunity to influence a wide range of decisions within the organization.
• Curiosity, an interest in understanding people’s motivations, an ability to identify patterns in data, and a passion for media content are all qualities that make a good Research Assistant.
