Documentary about a theory

Camera Operator is needed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I’m the author of a book about a theory in the area of neuroscience and consciousness. I would like to adapt the main contents to a documentary / explainer of around 40 minutes. The script is already finished. The film will feature animation (around one third of the film) and real video, with me as narrator in voiceover. In the live-footage, the “story” is how I spend a day in Kuala Lumpur at different sets. So it’s basically me visiting the sets. And on each set, I’m thoughtfully looking at things and immersed in the narration’s subjects, reflecting on them. With a few set-only shots. And also with a good amount of transitions by traveling between the sets. I will also speak directly to camera for selected sentences.

I would need a cameraman / videographer to film me and the sets. Mostly closer shots of me in a thoughtful mood, but also some wider shots. Artistic flair and an inspiring moods is good, but not too emotional or surreal. But overall it shouldn’t be too “clean”, as the subject is not only science-related, but features also quite deep and profound contents.

There are 5 sets plus one in-between set, and it’s all in Kuala Lumpur. With traveling and everything else, I think it’s gonna be around 12 working hours. But I would like to split it in two days for less stress. So I would need an offer for this. Sound and editing / post is not needed, but please include a variant with light assistance (probably not needed, but maybe as backup).

Since the script is final for the dialogue, but not for every single detailed scene, please also include an offer to elaborate the final storyboard. If you have a completely different idea on how to best film the topic, or a great alternative regarding sets, I’m open to discuss.

2d animation is planned to be created externally. However, if you can provide such services, please make also an offer (ca. 12 minutes of animation).
