Contract: Temporary, Part-time

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and creative Lighting Designer to join our team and enhance the visual experience of our events and productions. As a Lighting Designer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing captivating lighting setups that complement the overall ambiance, mood, and theme of various events. Your artistic vision and technical expertise will play a pivotal role in creating unforgettable moments for our clients and their audiences. Event types include: concerts, corporate events, outdoor festivals, school events, and private parties.

This is a part-time position, with the potential to grow with the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with event managers, producers, and clients to understand the event’s vision, theme, and lighting requirements.
  • Develop innovative lighting concepts and designs that align with the event’s goals and client expectations.
  • Use lighting design software and relevant tools to create detailed lighting plots and plans.
  • Select and specify lighting fixtures, equipment, and accessories to achieve the desired effects and atmosphere.
  • Coordinate with the technical team to ensure proper installation and implementation of lighting designs on-site.
  • Conduct lighting tests and adjustments during rehearsals to optimize the visual impact and functionality of the setup.
  • Program and operate lighting consoles during events, concerts, or performances to synchronize lighting cues with music and other elements.
  • Stay updated with the latest lighting technologies, trends, and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any lighting issues that may arise during events promptly.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations while working with lighting equipment.
  • Provide creative input and collaborate with other creative professionals, such as set designers and audio-visual technicians, to create a cohesive visual experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Lighting Designer in the event industry, theater, concerts, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in lighting design software and related tools (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD, or WYSIWYG).
  • Strong artistic vision and creativity to conceptualize unique lighting designs.
  • Knowledge of various lighting fixtures, equipment, and their functionalities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with different teams and clients.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and safety protocols related to lighting setups.
  • Willingness to stay flexible and adapt designs based on client preferences and event changes.
