Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stage Manager to join our production team for an exciting dinner theater event at The Wharf in Washington D.C. As the Stage Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of all technical aspects of the production. You will collaborate closely with the director, cast, crew, and other production personnel to ensure that the show runs seamlessly and exceeds audience expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all stage elements during rehearsals and performances, including set changes, lighting cues, sound effects, and prop movements.
- Create and maintain a detailed show script, cue sheets, and blocking notes to facilitate smooth transitions and accurate timing.
- Conduct comprehensive rehearsals and run-throughs to ensure that all technical elements align with the director’s vision.
- Coordinate with the production team to schedule and execute load-ins, load-outs, and technical rehearsals efficiently.
- Collaborate with the lighting and sound technicians to ensure proper execution of cues and timing during performances.
- Supervise and support the stage crew, ensuring they are well-prepared and aware of their responsibilities.
- Maintain clear communication channels between the director, cast, crew, and other production staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that may arise during rehearsals or performances.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the cast, crew, and audience members at all times.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Stage Manager in a theater or live event production setting.
- Proficient knowledge of stage management techniques, including cueing, blocking, and scheduling.
- Familiarity with technical aspects of theater production, including lighting, sound, and set design.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capability to manage a team effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse personalities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, and weekends as required by the production schedule.
