Job Description
Big Ten Network is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and team-oriented long-form storytelling editor to join our freelance editing team. The ideal candidate has an extensive background in Adobe Premiere Pro, a team-first attitude, 3-5 years of experience working in sports television, and a working knowledge of Big Ten sports. This position would start in August and end in March.
A Snapshot Of Your Responsibilities
- Edit features, docuseries, and any other storytelling pieces needed
- Serving as a post-producer, taking a script and making storytelling decisions with or without consistent input from a producer.
- Mixing audio and performing color correction within Adobe Premiere
- Reformatting storytelling pieces for both linear and social media platforms
What You Will Need
- 2-4 years of experience as an editor in long-form production
- Extensive experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
- Experience mixing audio and color correction
- Ability to edit from home off cloud storage OR the ability to commute to the B1G Network offices in Chicago to work
- Adobe creative cloud subscription and an editing computer if working remotely
- Flexible schedule, capable of working nights and weekends as well as adapting to the ever-evolving production schedule
- Capable of working closely with a team
- High-level attention to detail
- High-level time management
- Capable of working with minimal supervision when needed – including editing long-form content without a producer
- Good written, verbal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on tight deadlines
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot technical problems associated with editing
Nice to Have But Not a Dealbreaker
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, radio/TV/film, or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of Big Ten sports
- After Effects and Photoshop experience
