Job Description

Big Ten Network is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and team-oriented long-form storytelling editor to join our freelance editing team. The ideal candidate has an extensive background in Adobe Premiere Pro, a team-first attitude, 3-5 years of experience working in sports television, and a working knowledge of Big Ten sports. This position would start in August and end in March.

A Snapshot Of Your Responsibilities

  • Edit features, docuseries, and any other storytelling pieces needed
  • Serving as a post-producer, taking a script and making storytelling decisions with or without consistent input from a producer.
  • Mixing audio and performing color correction within Adobe Premiere
  • Reformatting storytelling pieces for both linear and social media platforms

What You Will Need

  • 2-4 years of experience as an editor in long-form production
  • Extensive experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Experience mixing audio and color correction
  • Ability to edit from home off cloud storage OR the ability to commute to the B1G Network offices in Chicago to work
  • Adobe creative cloud subscription and an editing computer if working remotely
  • Flexible schedule, capable of working nights and weekends as well as adapting to the ever-evolving production schedule
  • Capable of working closely with a team
  • High-level attention to detail
  • High-level time management
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision when needed – including editing long-form content without a producer
  • Good written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on tight deadlines
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot technical problems associated with editing

Nice to Have But Not a Dealbreaker

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, radio/TV/film, or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of Big Ten sports
  • After Effects and Photoshop experience
