Job Summary
- We are seeking a talented and creative UI/UX Web Designer to join our team. As a UI/UX Web Designer, you will be responsible for designing and creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites. You will work closely with our clients or internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into engaging and functional web designs. This role requires a strong eye for design, proficiency in various design tools and technologies, and a solid understanding of user experience (UX) principles.
Typical Job Functions
- Design and develop visually appealing websites that effectively communicate the client’s brand identity and message.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and developers to understand project requirements, objectives, and target audience.
- Serve as a proactive guide and resource for departments, providing support and guidance to help them meet expectations.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to effectively visualize design ideas and user interfaces.
- Develop and implement website layouts, navigation structures, and overall site architecture.
- Ensure websites are responsive, mobile-friendly, and optimized for search engines.
- Apply user-centered design principles to improve website usability and enhance user experience.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to refine website design and content.
- Ensure user experience determines design choices.
- Compliance with current web standards and interoperability, per Section 508/ADA standards and University policies.
- Create visually appealing graphics, banners, and other visual elements to enhance website aesthetics.
- Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency.
- Collaborate with the Web Advisory committee on updates including the look, feel, and functionality of the website.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in web design.
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
- Maintain a balance between functional and aesthetic design.
- Ensure web design is optimized for mobile/smartphones/tablets etc.
- Serve on campus committees.
- Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree from regionally accredited two-year college or university in Management Information Systems, or related web development degree/Certificate and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training in website design/management and web applications development
- Proficiency in web design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Adobe creative suite or similar software.
- Proven work experience as a UI/UX Web Designer or similar role, showcasing a strong portfolio of web design projects.
- Familiarity with user experience (UX) design principles and methodologies.
- Excellent visual design skills with a keen eye for aesthetics and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of brand stewardship in the context of both visual style guidelines and a content strategy
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal/customer service communication skills and ability to work as a team member.
- Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn’t sponsor H-1B Visas)
Additional Desired Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program departments and marketers, to create cohesive and effective online content.
- Skilled in website analytics tools such as Google Analytics
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery.
- Experience with higher education or similar setting
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, gross manipulations (involves hands) and standing or sitting (combination). Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.
