The University of Nottingham is looking to appoint an Educational Developer to play a crucial role in our ambitious Curriculum Transformation Programme. The aim of the Curriculum Transformation Programme is to improve the quality of the courses in the University’s portfolio by supporting colleagues to use programme-level design principles. The design process, which centres on co-creation with students, also draws on insights from alumni, employers and the market. Through the process we have developed we expect to improve student learning and graduate outcomes, reduce assessment burden, and create programmes of study which reflect the University’s values.
The role-holder will work in a team with a Senior Educational Developer and a student-partnership focussed Educational Developer, and will work closely alongside a team of Curriculum Design Managers. In collaboration with these colleagues, you will support academic leads and students with strategic curriculum (re-)design. You will use your knowledge of whole-programme approaches to support subject teams through all stages of curriculum transformation, from creating Graduate Attributes through to outline programme design. You will support academic and student teams to apply a set of core principles for programme transformation within the context of their individual, distinctive subjects. Throughout the process you will advocate for holistic, inclusive, evidence-based approaches to programme design.
Independently and with colleagues, you will design and facilitate materials and activities to lead staff and students through a process of co-creating a holistic, inclusive and authentic curriculum. You will take a leading role in generating and curating resources on a toolkit to support curriculum transformation. Through practice-exchange and other means you will help to facilitate a community of practice around whole-programme design.
In collaboration with the Senior Educational Developer, you will find opportunities to disseminate the work of the Curriculum Transformation Programme, including by developing case studies, reports and presentations for internal and external audiences. You will provide input into embedding Curriculum Transformation into business as usual.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop effective relationships with stakeholders. You will be experienced in working with and influencing academic colleagues, and able to demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement practices.
You will be graduate calibre, either with a degree or with an equivalent level of experience gained in the work environment.
This post is offered on a fixed term basis until 31/07/2025. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours).
