I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
- Job Description Summary:
- Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in Washington, DC. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools. The law school is located on the GW campus in the downtown neighborhood familiarly known as Foggy Bottom. The Law School is seeking a Graphic Designer that will assist the Law School with its Communications and Marketing. The incumbent will develop and implements strategy and tactics for showcasing and raising the visibility of the Law School experts, initiatives, and accomplishments. The incumbent creates original creative visual communication and marketing deliverables for the promotion of the Law School activities with a focus on print, digital, and multimedia materials and initiatives that support: academic reputation, enrollment efforts, and alumni engagement. This position will report to the GW Law Market and Communications Director.
- Representative Responsibilities:
- Develops visual strategies for the Law School marketing and communication collateral, events, videos, and other materials.
- Executes complex design projects utilizing the full scope of technical skills and creative methods. Utilizes Adobe Creative Cloud applications to produce print pieces including posters, brochures, flyers, environmental graphics, merchandise, advertising materials, logos, invitations, and multimedia graphics for use on the website, digital advertisement, motion graphics, and live video.
- Collaborates with the marketing team to develop comprehensive print, web, and multimedia collateral to meet the university’s promotional objectives and ensure adherence to university brand strategies, goals, and guidelines.
- Participates in press checks and other quality control measures including pre-flighting computer files before they are sent to vendors.
- Incumbents maintain expertise in and awareness of creative trends and technical developments by studying trade publications, attending training sessions, and participating in local and national organizations.
- The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud or similar software applications
- Excellent written and grammatical skills
- Experience in working with a professional printer
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to a diverse audience.
