Our client, Virginiaās largest institution of higher education, is looking to add an Instructional Designer to their online education division. The Instructional Designer is a full time, 1+ year contract position offering a full benefit package (to include health, dental, 401K). Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Instructional Design and Development, instructional designers are responsible for assisting in the design and development of online asynchronous courses and related resources. In this role, the Instructional Designer will work closely with the collegeās IT Department to develop online courses.
Responsibilities
- In this role, instructional designers will collaborate with the colleges IT department to design and develop blueprint templates for asynchronous courses, design digital course content with faculty members, and integrate teaching and learning technology tools.
- Translate information from the IT department into training.
- Understanding of learning theory to collaborate with faculty and develop activities, assessments, and learning materials that meet objectives and outcomes.
- Support the implementation of new instructional technologies used for teaching and learning, and participate in the initial set-up, regular support, and troubleshooting of these technologies.
- Work independently and in collaboration with faculty and staff, fellow instructional designers, and members of the online team to complete project assignments.
- It is required that the candidate possess strong creative abilities and skills along with strong technical abilities and skills in the use of computer software to create robust course resources and course designs.
Qualifications
- Masterās degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or related field. Other Masterās degrees considered depending on instructional design experience.
- Minimum of two years of instructional design experience working with faculty/instructors/subject matter experts to design, develop and support delivery of instruction.
- Highly developed communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal) with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (Python, Java, HTML, etc.).
- Cloud computing and data security experience.
- Adobe Creative Cloud.
- CIDI Labs (Plus).
- Expertise in applying learning theory and pedagogy to develop instructional design strategies.
- Knowledge and application of best practices using technology for teaching and learning, including but not limited to, multimedia development, Canvas learning management system, and online collaborative tools.
- Ability to monitor and report on the course development process.
- Instructional Design experience in higher education.
- Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in online & blended environments.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Salary: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
