Job Description

Buy Box Experts is looking to hire a part-time photography assistant to help execute high-quality photo shoots for e-commerce product photography and stop-motion animation. Our ideal candidate can work comfortably under tight deadlines and is eager to grow, attentive to details, and looking to build a solid product photography portfolio. This position will assist the lead photographer, report to our photography manager, and work on a team of talented creatives.

Our photographers collaborate with the Design and Content Optimization Team to create on-brand images that follow Amazon guidelines. The photography assistant must be able to perform all functions in a highly collaborative team environment—both in the studio and on location.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the production of compelling images using elements such as proper exposure, focus, lens selection, composition, colors, props, angle of light, locations, and sets that align with brand style
• Schedule and manage shoots based on an understanding of the department’s and photographer’s needs
• Understand category-specific Amazon style guides and industry standards to ensure consistency of image composition, surfaces, backgrounds, and lighting
• Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings with a diverse range of models and products
• Work proactively with remote creative teams to understand specific brand direction
• Research and implement new techniques to improve the overall quality of BBE’s photography
• Grow and develop the department by working directly with clients and account managers to recommend photo opportunities
• Practice good image archiving and file organization
• Build relationships, solve problems, and assist with meeting deadlines
• Demonstrate ongoing learning and self-development

Qualifications

• Experience as a photography assistant or photographer
• Experience with product photography or consumer goods photography
• Proficiency with Sony camera systems and various lighting systems
• Experience with Photoshop and/or Lightroom retouching and recoloring tools, including the clone stamp, pattern stamp, healing brush, patch tool, and color replacement
• A keen creative eye and sense of design in applications of the photographic image
• Ability to give and receive constructive criticism, encourage teammates, and celebrate team successes
• Robust multitasking, prioritization, and organization skills
• Clear, friendly, and proactive communication skills
• Efficient troubleshooting skills and strong work ethic
• Knowledge of current photography trends and equipment
• Daytime availability is a must
