Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Contract: Full-time, Temporary

Temporary Position:

9/5/2023- 2/1/2024 (40 hours per week)

JOB SUMMARY

The Webmaster and Multimedia designer is responsible for the district’s graphic multimedia design services and website. This includes ensuring that the layout, positioning, navigation, and look and feel of content in advertising and marketing materials and the website are consistent across and throughout the organization. This position is a creative team member with a high attention to detail. This position will need to be a collaborator who can create high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Creates, maintains, and modifies web pages on the district, department, and school websites.
  • Maintains list server lists, creates list content, transmits messages, logs, and provides monthly reports.
  • Designs and codes new web pages and accompanying graphics and multimedia for the website.
  • Maintains log of web postings and provides monthly report.
  • Updates the current GRPS.org website to comply with W3C and ADA standards.
  • Assists in the development of web standards and practices for departments and schools.
  • Provides technical support to departments and school personnel assigned to maintain websites.
  • Maintains database of department and school webmasters and webmaster alternates including logins, passwords, and training date.
  • Maintains security of website and building site servers by accurately assigning logins and passwords where appropriate.
  • Maintains working relationships with departmental and school division personnel.
  • Develops and facilitates training and workshop opportunities for department and school webmasters and webmaster alternates.
  • Coordinates with the appropriate Cabinet level staff to ensure the district’s website is ADA compliant.
  • Provides solutions and recommendations for industry best practices for digital and print marketing.
  • Conducts search engine optimization and website improvements to maximize digital marketing and advertising.
  • Creates production-quality design assets including web/email banners (static and animated), graphics, logos, and ads.
  • Works with a team to translate designs to emails and website.
  • Works closely with the video production team to produce high quality animations and motion graphics for videos.
  • Works closely with social media and paid advertising to elevate and enhance digital advertising.
  • Leads, contributes, and standardizes video asset library and best practices.
  • Maintains the online style guide and contributes to design guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g., computer science, graphic design, computer technology, etc.) AND at least 3 years of experience with web, graphic and user interface design; OR

A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience with web, graphic and user interface design.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience utilizing HTML/CSS, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, Joomla, WordPress, Navigate, Synergy, Photoshop, Abode Creative Suite, Adobe Flash Professional, and Fireworks.

A working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics. Highly knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social.”

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Skills in problem solving.

Skills in organizing and prioritizing work assignments to meet all customer and team service objectives.

Ability to make hard trade-off decisions through prototyping and experience.

Ability to rapidly evaluate technologies for suitability in our systems.

Ability to communicate technical concepts in layman’s terms along with advanced written and verbal communications skills.

Salary Range $71,483.08 - $80,454.83 / Per Year
