Responsibilities

• Lead the choir on a weekly basis when the choir is in session.
• Lead choir rehearsals each week.
• Have a working knowledge of church life – the liturgical seasons and their progression.
• Provide weekly selection of music for Sunday worship services – in cooperation with Priest in charge.
• Plan the anthem series for the choir.
• Plan special music for Christmas and Easter services as well as for special summer feasts. This includes scheduling soloists and instrumentalists for special occasions.
• Have ability to work well with both adults and youth.
• Maintain regular communication with Priest in Charge.
• Participate in staff meetings.
• See to regular maintenance of church owned instruments.
• Order music, supplies, etc. for music ministry, maintain music library.

Qualifications

• Strong skills for choral and congregational singing
• Commitment to the church’s vision, leadership, parishioners, and guests
• Ability to select hymns and other music appropriate to the season, Bible readings, and abilities and preferences of the congregation
• Choral direction experience
