UX Design Responsibilities (Approximately 60% of position)
- Leads teams on User Centered Design and Lean Agile Methodology and Design Thinking.
- Prepares usability and design patterns to guide design best practices.
- Leads and facilitates UX and Accessibility training with other coworkers in written articles and oral presentations.
- Creates and supports a high-performance culture among product team members.
- Conduct user research to determine user preferences and empathy.
- Collaborate with teams to create sketches, workflows, wireframe iteration and interactive prototypes that meet stakeholder needs, can be built by developers, and show empathy for customer needs.
- Creates and refines low and high-fidelity visual mock-ups and graphical assets to be used in the prototype and development process.
- Conducts usability testing on solutions to ensure they connect with their intended audience.
Accessibility Responsibilities (Approximately 40% of position)
- Review and report on accessibility/WCAG compliance of products: internal frameworks, websites, apps, and PDFs to ensure their accessibility.
- Remediate Accessibility issues in various forms, such as PDFs, prototype designs, logo images, etc.
- Lead accessibility training for designers and present to various organizations in Ford.
- Accessibility leadership with the local Employee Resource Group (ERG) for disabilities.
- Coordination with the DEI (Disability, Equity, and Inclusion) Office and legal entities.
Degree Type:
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Psychology/Human Factors, Computer Science, Engineering, Fine Arts, Communications
Technical Skills – Must Have
- 2+ years of experience in UX Research / Usability Testing
- 5+ years of experience in Interaction Design / Prototyping /Wireframing
- 2+ years of experience in Visual Design
- 5+ years of experience in Accessibility and implementing WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
- Experience leading others in UX and design.
- Experience with multiple design tools
- Experience in a Lean Agile / Agile / Waterfall environments
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Engaging facilitation and presentation skills
- Effective communication skills for relationships with product teams, business customers, and end users
- Passionate for problem-solving and committed to lifelong design learning
- Experience designing full-service consumer and/or business applications
Technical Skills – Nice to Have
- Command of modern front-end technologies and frameworks
- UX/Accessibility Certifications
- Experience with Web and Mobile Accessibility
- Experience with a global team
- Proficiency in creating custom iconography or illustrations
- Plan and conduct idea generating sessions and implement customer/end-user research plans
- Skills to facilitate teams through ideation sessions and prioritizing relevant ideas
- SharePoint design experience for upkeep of accessibility site.
- Assistive device experience (screen readers, etc.).
Salary: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
