Summary

The NFL Media Design Group is seeking a Designer/Animator to design and animate graphics and other design-based assets supporting shows, events, special programming or emerging platforms. This roleā€™s assignment to the Graphics Systems team also requires an advanced programming and scripting skillset to build design/animation tools and workflows that maximize our departmentā€™s efficiency.

This position reports to our Graphics System manager and requires close collaboration with Art Directors and Creative Producers on a project-by-project basis.

In this role, the Designer-Animator will:

  • On a project-by-project basis, conceptualize, design and ultimately animate specialized, high-production values graphics for the various groups serviced by the Media Design Group, working closely with the projectā€™s Art Director.
  • Help set and then meet timeline expectations, allowing adequate time for development, revision and execution with the Graphics System Manager and/or project-specific Art Directors and Creative Producers.
  • On a long-term basis, conceptualize, develop and deploy new production workflows, web apps and artist automation tools that reduce time-consuming, repetitive processes related to our design/animation projects, across the department.
  • Help support 70,000+ animated elements per season using automations and workflows.
  • Provide and support automated solutions to other groups such as the Edit or Facilities departments.
  • Help maintain relationships with core NFL technology and software partners. Provide primary and backup support to our Graphics Systems Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working in the design-animation and programming/scripting field.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. Proficient-to-expert knowledge of C4D (preferably Octane render engine), depending on project placement.
  • Ability to develop custom designs and animations from original concepts or that derive from style guides, existing graphics packages and/or references provided by art directors.
  • Expert knowledge of Javascript/Typescript, Extendscript, React, Python, C/C++ and AI toolks like ChatGPT Pro and CoPilot.
  • Ability to develop strategic solutions to production inefficiencies and visualize ways to use automation and artificial intelligence to continue advancing the capabilities of our design/animation tools.
  • Ability to adhere to communicated file naming conventions and shared organizational guidelines. Able to accommodate non-standard work hours, holidays and weekends as needed.

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Part-time under 29 hours/week
