Location: Sandton, South Africa

Contract: Contractor

Responsibilities:

  • Website development:
  • Collaborate with the editorial and design teams to develop and maintain the Health-e News website.
  • Implement and maintain responsive web design and ensure cross-browser compatibility.
  • Optimize website performance to deliver a seamless user experience.
  • CMS management:
  • Manage and maintain the content management system (CMS) to ensure smooth content updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve CMS-related issues and provide technical support to content editors.
  • Security and Maintenance:
  • Implement security measures to protect the website from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, updates, and backups to ensure the website’s stability and security.
  • Integration and APIs:
  • Integrate third-party APIs and services for features such as social media sharing, newsletters, analytics, etc.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with various tools and platforms for an improved user experience.
  • Mobile Optimization:
  • Ensure the website is optimized for mobile devices and tablets to reach a broader audience.
  • Google News Consumer Insights:
  • Stay informed about Google News Consumer Insights and use this data to identify trends and user preferences.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to tailor content strategies based on consumer insights.
  • Innovative Ideas:
  • Proactively propose and implement innovative ideas for website features, user engagement, and interactive content to enhance user experience.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest web development trends and technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a web developer, with a strong portfolio showcasing web development projects.
  • Proficiency in web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design.
  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS), preferably WordPress.
  • Knowledge of web security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
  • Familiarity with integrating third-party APIs and services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
