Who We Are:
OYA Black Arts Coalition (OBAC) is a Toronto-based non-profit for film that welcomes all Black Canadian creatives. We believe in a community-based approach that is “for us, and by us.” We are here to support you, whether you get your start at 18 or at 80. OYA Black Arts Coalition provides training, educational, employment, networking and collaboration opportunities for Black emerging and established film, television and screen-based media artists.
What We’re Looking For:
We are currently looking for a part-time Copywriter to join our team to help spruce up our website copy and marketing material. We’re a small team dedicated to providing great programming, but we like to keep the office atmosphere casual and jovial. You would be working in close proximity with our Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator and Program Coordinators with oversight from the Operations Manager. This role requires the ability to accommodate requests with short-turn around times i.e. under 24 hours.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Brand Voice: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and maintain a consistent and engaging brand voice for our company’s website that resonates with professionals in the film and TV industry.
- Enhance Social Media Copy: Create compelling and concise copy for our social media platforms, focusing on increasing engagement and building our online community within the film and TV community.
- Newsletter Copy: Assist in crafting engaging and informative content for our newsletter, ensuring it aligns with our brand’s messaging and objectives in the film and TV sector.
- Social Media Content Calendar: Collaborate with the Marketing lead to develop our social media content, ensuring content is planned, scheduled, and aligned with our marketing strategy within the film and TV industry.
- Review and Accuracy: Review and edit copy for graphics and video content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with our brand’s voice and message in the film and TV context.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in communications, media, journalism, marketing or related field.
- Proven experience as a Copywriter or similar role in the film and TV industry.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in crafting engaging and effective copy for websites, social media, newsletters, and various marketing materials in the film and TV domain.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and social media management tools.
- Proficiency in Google Docs, Slides, Figma, Canva.
- Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and concepts.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, capable of meeting deadlines.
- Team player with excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
