Job Description:

We are looking for a passionate and talented mid-senior level retail graphic designer for a maternity cover role. The ideal person loves retail and is able to adapt to multiple design and creative requirements, with an understanding and awareness of retail interiors, merchandising and visual display. This is an exciting opportunity to work in Mothercare’s brand team assisting in the creation and execution of the visual identity of Mothercare across all instore graphic design, print and digital media, including:

• Store and window print graphics and concepts
• Event/Promo graphics
• Print Artworking
• Social Media & Web

In this role you will work with and carry out directions from the Brand Design Manger, Senior Graphic Designer and Brand Director. This position requires a team player with a hands-on approach to support the multiple creative projects that occur within the Brand Department.

Role Responsibilities:

• Working with the brand team to create the required design and artworking solutions.
• Ability to work as part of the team and independently, to multi-task and manage a variety of projects.
• Create compelling artwork for briefs from our global store teams.
• Actively seek to contribute inspiration and ideas to further the Mothercare retail brand look and feel.
• Ability to recognise and respond to current retail design, fashion, and cultural trends.
• Apply and maintain Mothercare standards and aesthetic to printed literature, digital content, social media, display graphics and visual merchandising elements.
• Liaise with colleagues on a cross functional basis to ensure projects are completed to the required schedule.
• Consider the cultural requirements that applicable to our global business.

Production:

• Deliver technical print artworks.
• File preparation: neatly organise all creative work so it is easily located and used by Brand Team.
• Assist the senior team with all aspects of the various creative projects for the Mothercare brand. As well as the above, this can include internal work such as creating mood boards and mock-ups, setting up presentations, contacting and meeting suppliers, etc.

Experience:

• A portfolio of high quality completed projects at a mid-senior level, showing a wide range of experience in retail graphic design and branding.
• Experience of working in retail, ideally for a global brand with knowledge of retail stores and retail branding.
• An understanding of retail displays and merchandising.
• Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
• Solid graphic design foundations: acute attention to detail, good typography skills, and a strong layout/editorial eye.
• Retouch skills are a bonus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience of store design and implementation.
• Awareness of equipment supply and management.
