Job Description

The role of Principal Data Scientist at the BBC is hands-on and focused on delivering value to BBC audiences through the use of technical skills. Principal Data Scientists are responsible for developing machine learning products at scale and managing day-to-day project work in the Account & Participation Data Science Team. They work in a highly cross-functional team and overcome challenges in delivering data science in production.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role should:

• Have significant experience as an effective team contributor
• Have knowledge and experience in different machine learning algorithms
• Understand and implement data science best practices
• Have strong coding skills, particularly in Python
• Have experience with cloud-based platforms, preferably AWS
• Understand code management and deployment
• Have experience with model lifecycle management and MLOps (optional)
• Have a proven track record of delivering value in production
• Be able to prioritize and work in a structured manner
• Have excellent teamwork and stakeholder management skills
• Be able to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Be enthusiastic about personal development and learning
