Job Description

First Church is seeking a reliable drummer to support our Sunday morning worship services and encourage the congregation’s worship of God through music and song. The principal duties and responsibilities for this role include:

1. Providing rhythmic accompaniment using various percussion instruments.
2. Practicing individually and regularly to ensure excellence in executing repertoire each week.
3. Working with a team of other musicians.
4. Performing regularly for Sunday morning worship and special holiday worship services.
5. Following written and oral instructions.
6. Having a positive attitude and working with the music team to fulfill the spiritual vision and mission of First Church.
7. Communicating regularly with the Lead Musician for scheduling.
8. Performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

The following qualifications and requirements are necessary for this role:

1. High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor of Arts in Music or related field preferred.
2. Excellent ability to play music representative of the genres used in worship at First Church.
3. Clear vision and understanding of the role of music in worship.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and listen effectively.
5. Positive interpersonal skills.
6. Understanding and enthusiasm for the church and its members, mission, and programs.
7. Able to work effectively with diverse cultures and ethnicities, all levels of socioeconomic status, gender identities and expressions, and sexual orientations.

Other Details

• Reports to the Lead Musician.
• Pay commensurate with experience.
• FLSA: Hourly non-exempt.
• Required hours: Sundays, 8am-11am (including holidays), possibly weekday rehearsals and special services.
• Job Type: Part-time.
• Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour.
• Expected hours: 3 per week.
• Schedule: 4-hour shift, including holidays.
• Work Location: Hybrid remote in Akron, OH 44308.
