Job Description

Elevation is re-establishing the boundaries of VR. We’re looking for a talented Lighting Artist to help us explore, create, and deliver world-leading innovation in software and VR hardware. Become one of the founding members of Elevation, pathfinding a remote first studio, crafting a new generation of VR development and bringing core VR games to fruition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and drive the ideation and iteration of creating immersive world from concept art to game
• Create lighting effects to enhance believable and immersive game worlds, ensuring the delivery of extraordinary virtual reality games and experiences
• Balance, tinker and playtest your work to optimize the overall games experience
• Participate in team activities and work collaboratively with others in your team to deliver commitments
• Fix bugs and support core systems through multiple project lifecycles
• Act as a positive advocate and representative for the Art team within the studio and externally

Requirements

Essential capabilities:

• Performance and accountability – a commitment and focus to producing work of the highest standard to time and budget.
• Communication and relationships – ability to work collaboratively with the wider team at Elevation, ability to develop visual ideas and to react positively to constructive feedback and able to critique other people’s work constructively.
• A strong set of core skills - including composition, great attention to detail and the ability to employ a clear creative process from reference, concept and development to the final style, finishes and execution
• Versatility, showing an aptitude to tackle a wide range of subject matters from stylized to realistic, showcasing a strong grasp of realism

Desired experience:

• Possessing strong expertise in lighting, composition and mood creation, showcasing a keen ability to manipulate visual elements for impactful and evocative outcomes, using a combination of technical and artistic skills to create visually compelling and emotionally resonant artwork
• A degree/equivalent qualification and at least 2 years experience in real-time game development, with demonstrable results.
• An aptitude to apply yourself to new tools and technology, including an excellent understanding of the Unreal engine
• Experience of working within a team and a positive personality with a can-do attitude
