Job Description

In this role, you will join the Future Forward Research Group at Intuitive Surgical, where you will be responsible for designing and developing next-gen telepresence applications for surgical robotic procedures. You will work in a small-team environment and be committed to high-quality research prototypes and supporting infrastructure. Your primary function will be to build scalable and reliable applications that enable connectivity solutions to surgeons, as well as secure audio-video communication client/server applications. You will also participate in design discussions, code reviews, and work on building RESTful APIs and micro-services. Additionally, you will define the technical approach for product features and optimize for speed, performance, effectiveness, and reliability. Other responsibilities include conducting tests, interacting with different teams, and working on product releases.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Minimum educational background in software engineering or related program (MS degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years of software development experience or proven competency developing and supporting various product categories, including client, server, communication-centric, APIs, and micro-services.
• Strong hands-on software development skills in C# and .NET Core.
• Deep API and Micro-services skills.
• Good experience with AWS Cloud.
• Data-driven application development skills with Relational and NoSQL Databases.
• Good understanding of design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative/team-based approach.
• Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong experience in isolating and troubleshooting software and hardware issues, identifying root causes quickly, documenting lessons learned, and proposing solutions for meeting customer needs.

Bonus Characteristics

The following skills and experiences are considered a plus:

• Experiences in Node.js, ReactJS, and JavaScript.
• Working experiences with Docker/Kubernetes.
• CI/CD, JIRA, GitLab, or similar.
• Working knowledge of Scrum or other Agile development methodologies.

Other Information

The position is a 1-year contract opportunity with a compensation of $90 - $120/hr. The work location is at S3420 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051. Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Intuitive Surgical through our direct sourcing partner, Raise. If selected, you will be employed by Raise and not be an employee of Intuitive Surgical.
