Job Role: Software Developer
Duration: ASAP - 6 months
Location: Edinburgh - Hybrid
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: Β£460 per day
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to join our clientβs dynamic team on a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. If you are a talented Software Developer with a passion for delivering high-quality solutions in a collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply.
Main Outcomes & Objectives
- Development, testing, and delivery of Prepayment Service, Invoicing Service Improvements, and Procurement and Supplier payments Improvements.
- Continued development and support of supporting domain products aligned with product and architecture roadmaps.
- Contribution to discovery for a Prepayment Service and HR solution.
- Demonstrate sustainable and collaborative software development practices.
- Active participation in team events and supporting process improvement.
- Ensure high quality of developed solutions through unit tests, code analysis, and code quality tools.
- Comply with non-functional requirements such as accessibility, security, UI/UX, performance, maintainability, deployability, etc.
- Troubleshoot development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
- Use collaborative development practices such as pairing and mobbing techniques.
- Coaching and mentoring team members as appropriate.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant commercial experience with AWS technologies, including CDK, Serverless (Lambda), S3, API Gateway, Cloud Formation, and Aurora/Postgres.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, Node JS, and modern JavaScript UI frameworks, including React.
- Strong HTML/CSS skills and awareness of accessibility considerations.
- Proven track record in delivering high-quality software collaboratively in cross-functional development teams.
- Experience with designing, gaining consensus, and implementing technical solutions for software development projects.
- Familiarity with Digital First or GDS quality standards.
- Expertise in developing solutions using human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices.
- Design and implementation experience using service and event-based architectures.
- Front and back-end development skills.
- Familiarity with testing tools for unit testing, including system test automation frameworks.
- Cloud monitoring, telemetry, intelligence tools, and processes experience, including CloudWatch Dashboards.
- Proficient in CI/CD, Test Driven Development (TDD), Pair Programming, and Agile delivery models.
- Experience with defining infrastructure as code.
- Use of UI pattern libraries to achieve consistent, tested, and high-quality interfaces.
- Familiarity with code quality, monitoring, telemetry, and analytics tools.
- Experience in mentoring team members.
