Job Description:
The Junior Automation Developer will be part of the newly formed Scottish Government Automation Centre of Excellence (CoE) team. They will work on agile projects within a portfolio and develop automation solutions using a range of hyper automation platforms. They will collaborate with stakeholders and end users throughout the project lifecycle, from identifying automation opportunities to design, development, testing, and maintenance. They will also perform the role of Process Controller to manage the administration of BAU automations, provide 2nd line support, and manage change requests.
Requirements:
Essential Criteria and Qualifications:
- Experience of delivering digital solutions using Agile/Scrum and SDLC methodologies
- Experience of using diagrams to present information to a group of stakeholders
- Experience using data manipulation and data visualization tools
- An understanding of formal change control procedures and disciplines
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience utilizing Blue Prism, Power Automate, and/or UiPath platforms
Additional Information:
This is a 24-month fixed-term appointment. The post attracts a Β£5,000 per annum pro-rata DDaT Pay Supplement after a 3-month competency qualifying period. The post is based in Glasgow/Edinburgh, with virtual and hybrid working being the current arrangement.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in identifying automation opportunities and employing process optimization techniques and LEAN/agile methodologies where required
- Support the design, build, testing, and deployment of automation process solutions
- Conduct initial impact assessments on system change requests
- Maintain the daily administration of the production environment as Process Controller
- Support business and technical reviews of automation performance operational and metrics reporting
- Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for all facets of RPA work
- Contribute to RPA development methodology and testing practices/standards
- Contribute to best practice for the delivery of RPA solutions within the Scottish Public Sector

Interview and Assessment:
Interviews are expected to take place in March 2024.
Minimum Time in Post:
You will be expected to remain in the post for the duration of the contract unless successful at gaining promotion to a higher Band or Grade.
