Job Description:

We are looking for a talented, technically proficient camera operator to join our start-up based in Maboneng, Johannesburg. The camera operator will be working closely with the Director and producer. Our mission is to shoot short to medium length content for YouTube and social media. The objective is to shoot shows, short doccies, and promotional content for companies. Our content is mostly shot handheld or using a Gimbal, with occasional use of tripods. The camera operator will need to have a steady hand and be positioned well to work handheld most of the time.

Key Roles:

• Operating precise camera movements such as panning, tilting, tracking, or zooming
• Framing shots, adjusting focus, controlling exposure, and managing camera visual effects
• Conveying and understanding the director’s vision to create visual outcomes
• Selecting equipment and lenses for production
• Selecting lighting equipment and setting up lighting for production
• Building rigs for production

Requirements:

• At least 2 years active experience as a videographer, camera operator, or director
• Able to use Sony A7 III, Sony A7 iV, Canon RP, Canon DSLRs, and most Mirrorless cameras
• Ability to use manual lenses and prime lenses
• National Diploma in Arts or fine Art or Multimedia or related field
• Able to communicate in English, Zulu, Sotho or Venda or Any 2 South African languages
• Able to travel to Rosebank once a week

Additional Information:

The ideal candidate will volunteer for a month or two until their agility and work style are assessed. Prospectus candidates will be provided with benefits while volunteering, including travel allowance, internet, studio workspace, and equipment. The first 2 months of the job are volunteering. The current schedule involves shooting at least once a week, with 2 pre-production days. The total working days are 3 per week, 2 days remotely and 1 at the studio. The job type is temporary, with a contract length of 4 months. The salary range is R3,000.00 - R5,000.00 per month.
