Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading Investment Banking clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Java Back End Developer to join their team on a 12-month contract for an App modernisation program.

You will be responsible for:

• Analyzing requirements, working with the scrum master on understanding JIRA stories
• Implementing assigned stories
• Getting stories deployed to UAT at the end of the sprint and working with users to obtain UAT sign-off
• Working with the Release Management Team on Prod Implementation
• Providing Post Prod Support
• Participating in JIRA Backlog grooming activity

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

1. Recent hands-on professional experience as a back-end software engineer in an agile, dynamic, and customer-facing environment
2. Recent experience with using a JVM language (Java/Scala/Kotlin, preferably Java 8)
3. Understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
4. Understanding of RESTful APIs and web technologies
5. Understanding of Data structures, Space / Time Complexity
6. Experience in all the stages of software development lifecycle (requirements, design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, release, and support)

Desirable skills/experience include:

• Understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Understanding of security frameworks/standards
• Understanding of data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
• Understanding of containers (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)

Work Type: Contract

Salary/Rate: £400 per day
