Job Description

We are looking for a design aficionado with a deep understanding of User Experience (UX) and a passion for cutting-edge design trends. As part of the UX design team, you will engage in creative brainstorming, simplify intricate requirements into elegant design solutions, produce key art, and iterate from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes. Your role will require a strong understanding of transactional web design, typography, layout, color, and composition skills. Familiarity with animation, motion graphics, and basic video editing skills will be beneficial. You will collaborate with fellow designers, researchers, engineers, producers, copywriters, and other functions to make thoughtful and innovative design decisions. You will also infuse Western Digital’s brand identity, visuals, and tone of voice into all digital communications.

Requirements

• A creative background at the intersection of visual design, UI design, and UX engineering
• Familiarity with front-end languages and frameworks (i.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Great communication skills
• Experience with web-based interaction design
• Proficiency in designing for responsive web environments
• Experience working with JIRA for efficient project management and collaboration
• Experience with Adobe XD or Figma for designing mock-ups and prototypes
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud platform (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects within tight deadlines
• Familiarity with Google Material design patterns
• Ability to retouch and edit photo assets
• Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines
• Experience designing websites using atomic design methodologies
• Experience with video and motion graphics software (After Effects, Premiere, Media Encoder) is a plus
• Experience utilizing AI to streamline design processes is a plus

Other Information

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in design
• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in UI/UX Design, preferably in a corporate environment or design firm with e-commerce expertise
• Job Type: Contract
• Salary: $37.00 - $40.00 per hour
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Ability to Relocate: Irvine, CA 92612 (Required - Relocate before starting work)
