Job Description

This position will reside in the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department and will be responsible for maintaining a consistent visual identity and ensuring brand guidelines are being met for the department through various marketing materials, including social media, print collateral, and other digital/print assets. The incumbent in this position will collaborate with the Media and Public Relations Bureau, department bureaus/divisions, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and contribute innovative design solutions that align with the overall brand strategy. They will oversee concepts by designing rough layouts of art and copy, and be responsible for the overhaul of existing print and digital collaterals to align with department branding. In addition, they will oversee the preparation of design files, documentation for print production or dissemination, and archiving of all design files. This position entails utilizing design software for visual projects to include image scanning, image manipulation, photo compositing, photo retouching, and special effects. The incumbent will also be responsible for curating and producing eye-catching visuals while ensuring they are optimized for different outlets, such as digital and print. They will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet deadlines without compromising quality, design specifications, and budget restrictions. The incumbent will assist in the creation of multimedia content to enhance the department’s digital presence and in the creation of design elements for events, which can include banners, signage, programs, and other promotional materials. They will stay informed about industry trends and emerging design technologies and perform additional related duties as needed. The role will require working a 40-hour work week and at times will entail working nights and weekends in the event of major incidents, emergencies, department events, or other department-related needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.
• Two years of advanced computer graphic design experience to include usage of specialized graphics programs, color digital pre-press, high resolution scanning, and maintenance of complex computer design systems.
• Additional experience in computer graphic design experience to include usage of specialized graphics programs, color digital pre-press, high resolution scanning, and maintenance of complex computer design systems may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Information

This position is part-time and exempt from Classified Service. The minimum rate of pay is $28.02 per hour and the maximum rate is $49.32 per hour. The position is regular and located in Doral.
