Job Description
The Junior Software Systems Engineer will provide support with software programming, including Microsoft platform integration and development and Extron A/V systems design and programming. The incumbent will provide technical support for systems and applications developed. The Junior Software Systems Engineer will also program and integrate solutions, perform tests, implement quality controls, and develop and maintain documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Development - Consult with users to identify goals, needs, issues, and solutions. Update and improve software to fix bugs, add new features, or enhance performance.
- Quality Control of IT Systems - Test and debug software developed to ensure its functionality, reliability, and quality.
- Extron A/V Systems Design and Programming - Use specialized software tools from Extron’s to develop and configure equipment to meet system needs.
Requirements
Ability to independently lead assigned projects from beginning to completion, plan schedules accordingly, utilize available resources appropriately, meet deadlines, keep the IT team informed, solve unforeseen problems, and provide quality work in a timely manner. Knowledge of data and file structures, database systems and related utilities, and operating systems. This includes knowledge of SharePoint, SQL, Microsoft Office applications, and networking protocols. Understanding of technical and vendor documentation and ability to maintain internal documentation. Comprehensive knowledge of the system development life cycle and structured systems development concepts. Possess excellent knowledge of computer technology, the ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex computer systems. Ability to communicate technical information to a technically diverse audience in a clear and concise manner. HTML5 experience required. JavaScript experience required. CSS experience required. MS Excel knowledge required. Independently apply technical judgment to standard and non-standard applications and systems, solve a wide range of problems, develop practicable and thorough solutions, and use effective communication and listening skills. Knowledge, interpretation, and ability to design workflows, functional block diagrams, line diagrams, and schematics. Comprehensive understanding of SharePoint and/or other content management systems. Specialized skills in AV systems and programming technologies. Skilled in the oversight of complex technical projects, including hardware/software migrations, deployments, upgrades, and updates, to be able to take appropriate action in response to system failures or inaccessibility. Ability to train others in complex tasks and technical processes in a clear and simple manner. Ability to perform system, database, and network maintenance tasks impacting database creation, management, and security. Extron experience preferred. C# experience preferred .NET experience preferred. React experience preferred. API knowledge preferred.
Education and Experience
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business, or related technical field required.
- Two years of experience in computer science, computer engineering, computer programing, or related experience preferred.
Additional Information
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
