Job Description
An exciting opportunity for a Junior Software Engineer to join the Software Engineering Group at the Department of Space and Climate Physics (Mullard Space Science Laboratory - MSSL) of University College London (UCL). The role involves being a member of the MSSL Earth Observation (EO) Project team, supporting European Earth observation missions, particularly the Copernicus Polar Ice and Snow Topography mission (CRISTAL) scheduled for launch in 2027. Knowledge of basic physics, software engineering lifecycle, expertise in programming languages, and experience with scientific algorithm design, coding, and verification are essential.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have a university degree in a numerical science subject or equivalent experience, with at least A Level standard understanding of physics. Proficiency in various programming languages, notably Python, and strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience in software engineering documentation and scientific algorithm design is essential.
