Job Description
As a part of the Morgridge Research Computing Group, the Student Web Developer will help manage the user-facing presence (design, layout, UI, and functionality) of web pages for various projects. Responsibilities include using web frameworks, design tools, and best practices to design, develop, and maintain websites that promote scientific projects and events. The position will involve “frontend” work with some opportunities for “backend” work.
Requirements
Requirements for the role include experience with HTML, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks for the frontend, as well as Python for the backend. Experience with static site generators like Jekyll, Adobe Suite products such as Adobe Illustrator, and version control systems like git is desirable. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a focused research setting are necessary.
Other Information
The position is in-person for 10-20 hours per week with flexible work hours primarily between 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. Duties involve managing public presence, optimizing SEO, creating intuitive interfaces, providing support for documentation, developing new websites and services, and creating web landing pages or email templates.
