Job Description

Freejam, developers of the online multiplayer game Robocraft, is seeking a freelance Technical Audio Designer to collaborate with the team on various audio projects during the game development process. The role involves creating and implementing sound effects, music, and voice-overs, as well as composing music tracks for the game. The Technical Audio Designer will work closely with designers, developers, and other team members to ensure that audio enhances the overall gaming experience.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role should have:

  • Experience using Unity for implementing in-game audio
  • Proficiency in audio editing software like Pro Tools, Audacity, Reaper, Cubase, Adobe Audition, etc.
  • Proficiency in the FMOD audio middleware engine
  • Strong understanding of sound design principles, audio post-production, mixing, and mastering within video games
  • Proficiency in Unity game engine for audio integration
  • Experience with game development asset management tools such as Git and ideally Perforce
  • Demonstrable experience in sci-fi sound effects design and digital music composition suitable for video games
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively with team members, and pay attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree in music, sound design, or related field
  • Familiarity with C# or C++ for scripting within game engines
  • At least one shipped game in the portfolio showcasing previous game audio work

Candidates are also required to include their availability to start, portfolio of work, and daily rate in their applications.

Additional Information

This is a freelance position where the Technical Audio Designer will work on short and longer-term audio projects for the game development process. Strong communication skills and a creative mindset are essential for this role.
