Job Description:

The Wake Up Asheville!: Podcast Production Internship allows interns to self-produce a local news podcast focusing on Asheville. Interns will aggregate news from local sources, write scripts, record and edit episodes, and upload them to a podcast hosting platform. Each intern is responsible for producing one to three episodes per week, with episodes run 3-4 minutes. The work schedule is Sunday through Thursday evenings, with each episode taking approximately 2-3 hours to complete. The internship offers real-world working experience and a portfolio applicable to a professional newsroom.

Requirements:

Qualifications for this internship include a strong interest in journalism or podcasting, excellent research and writing skills, a clear and confident broadcasting voice, basic audio editing skills, the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, and residency in or near Asheville to stay informed about local news.
