Job Description

As a full-stack engineer on the Platform Engineering Team, you will be responsible for building a modern application platform hosting a suite of micro apps for Northwestern Mutual. You will primarily work on back-end development in NodeJS/TypeScript, utilize modern technologies like AWS, NGINX, and Lua, and contribute to a robust CI/CD pipeline.

Requirements

• Strong JavaScript experience in building backend NodeJS microservices (TypeScript a plus)
• Experience with web apps or microservices deployment using git & pipelines
• Openness to learning new technologies and areas of full stack development
• Effective collaboration skills with engineers, product owners, and non-technical roles
• 3+ years of engineering experience
• Comfortable with technologies like React, Kubernetes, AWS, or DevOps

Nice To Haves

• Experience in AWS services such as Dynamo, S3, Elasticache, EC2, IAM
• Familiarity with app servers like Nginx or Apache (Open Resty & Lua is a plus)
• Knowledge of Computer Networks (DNS, routing, firewalls) and OSI stack
• Comfortable with Unit Testing, Integration Testing, and Best Practices (e.g., Jest)
• Experience with Databases and Key/Value stores (Redis, MySql, etc.)
• Experience with GraphQL
• Strong problem-solving skills and sense of ownership.

• Pay: $39.23 - $50.00 per hour
